The Offspring Kicks Off Halloweekend with One Bad Son in Edmonton at The Bear's 25th Annual Halloween Howler - October 27, 2017
PHOTOGRAPHED FOR VUE WEEKLY
Once again, Halloweekend has come and gone in Edmonton, and of all things that go bump in the night around this time of year, The Howler is surely the one who makes the most noise. Going on their 25th year at the Shaw Conference Centre, local rock radio station 100.3 The Bear has been throwing this epic Halloween party that just keeps getting better and better with each passing year.
It was my first year shooting this event, and I couldn't have been more excited! Halloween mixed with live tunes and a camera in my hands, what could be better?!
This year's entertainment consisted of gritty rock and in-your-face punk tunes courtesy of The Offspring and One Bad Son. Tickets had completely sold out for this event, and it certainly showed. Both bands totally had the audience eating out of the palms of their hands as they hammered through their sets, seeming thrilled to be a part of the pre-Halloween fun.
A plethora of elaborate costumes filled the Shaw Conference Centre, making it entertaining to not only watch the bands, but to see everyone done up from heads to toes in well thought out Halloween garb. Needless to say, I had a blast shooting this event, and I can't wait to see what The Bear has in store for next year's Halloween Howler!

PHOTOGRAPHED FOR EXCLAIM.CA
Ahh yes, the joys of starting off the week with a stellar show! Rise Against packed a punch down at the Shaw Conference Centre on Monday night to a full floor of people, and I loved every second of it. People of all ages attended this gig, and it warms my heart to have seen so many young people at this show with their parents, as the obvious love for aggressive music is passed on from generation to generation. Needless to say, this was an overall positive way to get the week started for more people than just me!

Against Me! Delivers Punk and Unity to Union Hall - September 5, 2017
PHOTOGRAPHED FOR VUE WEEKLY
Slightly delayed on sharing this gallery to my blog, but hey, better late than never, right?! Against Me! visited Edmonton's Union Hall on Tuesday September 5th, with girl-rock sensation Bleached and Ontario's own The Dirty Nil. This gig was a perfect way to kick off the month of September after the long weekend, and was just the right amount of rock n roll and punk to settle the week's appetite for in-your-face music.
Metallica Brings Explosive Excitement and Metal Madness to Edmonton on Final Day of Hardwired World Tour - August 16, 2017
PHOTOGRAPHED FOR VUE WEEKLY
Last night's show at Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium was easily a check off of the top of my bucket list. One of the biggest nights of my career as a concert photographer, and I couldn't have been more excited about it. I've been dying to have the one and only Metallica in front of my lens for years, and at last, it happened in Commonwealth Stadium last night, it feels so surreal to have come and gone so quickly. I'm truly at a loss for words when it comes to describing my time spent shooting a show of this magnitude, and with such sentimental value to me.
Adding a little sugar to the mix, Gojira and Avenged Sevenfold opened up the night with excitement and to get the audience warmed up for what was in store. I'm also extremely excited and proud to finally announce that I am now a part of the Vue Weekly photographer team! I'm so looking forward to what's yet to come with this great opportunity as we both continue to grow.
Metallica also did a solid for those who wanted to see the show last night but couldn't make it out, as they celebrated the final show of their Hardwired World Tour by live-streaming the concert through their YouTube page, the stream can be viewed HERE for anyone who wants catch the live experience.
Needless to say, this was truly an unforgettable night for me and many others who are fans of the band. Though as a professional concert photographer, this is easily one of the biggest nights of my career, and it's something that I'll be talking about for years to come! I'm chomping at the bit for the next time Metallica visit's their Edmonton family!
Missed the show? Don't sweat it, I've got you covered! Check out my review of Metallica's banger performance right HERE at Vue Weekly!
Shakey Graves Rocks The Needle Vinyl Tavern After Edmonton Folk Fest Evacuation - August 10, 2017
PHOTOGRAPHED FOR EXCLAIM.CA
After a sudden performance cancellation due to a weather evacuation on the first day of the Edmonton Folk Music Festival on August 10th, the self proclaimed Gentleman from Texas, Shakey Graves found himself playing an impromptu set late Thursday night down at The Needle Vinyl Tavern in Edmonton.
This was a super exciting time for me over the past weekend. My disappointment of having to leave the festival grounds early on Thursday night before the evening's headliners could hit the stage was easily made all better, thanks to the ever-so accommodating folks down at The Needle, and their notable speedy invitation-tweeting, which spread like wildfire throughout the Twitter world.
The venue started to fill up almost instantly once word got around about Shakey Grave's making an appearance on their stage. Hitting the stage at approximately 11 pm, Shakey and his band of jammers brought the house down entirely for an hour and a half in front of a full floor of people, eager to take in some of his classic southern-blues-meets-bluegrass tunes.
Needless to say, this was a huge weekend-highlight for me, and it's easily something I won't be forgetting about any time soon!
Couldn't make it in time to see Shakey Graves at The Needle? Don't worry! Exclaim! has you covered with the review right HERE!
Edmonton Folk Music Festival 2017 - August 10-13, 2017
PHOTOGRAPHED FOR EXCLAIM!.CA
The 38th annual Edmonton Folk Music Festival took place in the heart of Alberta this past weekend. Residing in the infamous Gallagher Park, close to 20,000 people gathered each day from Thursday to Sunday to watch some of the finest acts in folk music today, all while taking in the beautiful downtown skyline of Edmonton.
This was my first year shooting the Edmonton Folk Music Festival, and needless to say, it surely won't be my last. I had a wonderful time shooting the bands on the main stage, and discovering new music throughout the weekend, and that's just something that cannot be beat, if you ask me. The weather was gorgeous for the most part, despite the rain on the final day of the fest, and an evacuation on the first day due to severe winds in the area, which in turn, resulted in a last minute performance by fest scheduled artist, Shakey Graves, down at The Needle Vinyl Tavern a few hours after the evacuation of the festival grounds. A blog about that adventure along with a full gallery of photos will be coming soon, I promise!
On the bright side, all of the main stage acts that I covered completely blew me away with raw and pure talent. I felt mesmerized at times while photographing some of the artists, and completely captivated by what they were doing on stage. Luckily, through my amazement I was able to capture some interesting shots of the bands. Below is a gallery of some of my favourite snaps shot over the course of the weekend, and full galleries can be viewed over at Exclaim!.
